2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally Review
Today, we’re talking about a car that’s definitely not your typical family hauler: the 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally. It’s sporty, it’s electric, and it turns heads everywhere it goes. Is it the ultimate family car? Probably not. But could it be a fun second car that still fits a car seat or two for school drop-off or weekend errands? Let’s find out.
If you’re new here—welcome! I’m Kelly The Car Mom. I’m a mom of four, a Child Passenger Safety Technician, and I review vehicles with real families in mind. I recently had the chance to drive the Mach-E Rally, and while it’s outside my usual lineup, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to see how it stacks up for parents. So let’s dive in.

Kelly’s Thoughts
No third row, but decent second-row space for an EV
Big vertical touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
All-electric with dual-motor All-Wheel Drive
Built-in keypad on the door (no need to dig for keys!)
Sporty design with fun details and trim
2025 Mustang Mach-E Rally Exterior
Okay… Ford really went for it with the exterior of the 2025 Mustang Mach-E Rally—and I kinda love it. This thing looks like it’s ready to tear up a gravel trail and turn heads in the school pickup line.
You’ve got rally-inspired 19-inch white wheels (which are way cooler in person than they sound), bold racing stripes, and a big rear spoiler that gives major Focus RS vibes. The front end gets a sporty splitter and LED fog lights, and there’s even a recovery hook because this thing is actually built for fun off-pavement.
So what makes the Rally different from a regular Mustang Mach-E? It’s basically a GT with some fun upgrades to handle rougher roads like a higher suspension, added underbody protection, and a special drive mode made for dirt and gravel. It’s built to get a little dirty while still looking cool.
I drove the 2022 Mustang Mach-E a while back and was seriously impressed. It had the sleek look, the tech, and all the cool factor. The 2025 model definitely builds on that, but honestly? The older one still holds up really well. Check out my full car review down below.
This version of the Mach-E sits a little higher than the regular one, and it’s got extra protection underneath and around the sides—perfect if you’re taking it off pavement or just dealing with rough roads. And the look? It’s bold. With the black roof, dark gray trim, and that bright yellow paint, this car is not trying to blend in, and I’m here for it.
2025 Mustang Mach-E Rally First Row
Let’s talk driver comfort. I’m 6 feet tall, and I had no problem fitting in this car. The bucket-style suede seats hug your body in the best way—not too firm, just sporty and supportive. The cabin feels open and bright, and that massive 15.5" screen in the center is super easy to use. It’s giving techy but not overwhelming. And the interior details, like the suede and white accents, make it feel fun and elevated.

The Rally trim comes with some special drive modes, Unbridled and RallySport, that really change how the car drives. Think of these modes like different personalities for the car. In RallySport mode, it adjusts how the wheels, brakes, and acceleration respond so it can handle loose surfaces like gravel or dirt more confidently. It gives you more control and makes the car feel steady even on uneven roads.
Unbridled mode, on the other hand, is all about performance. It tightens up the steering and makes the car feel more energetic and responsive when you press the pedal. It’s the kind of mode that makes turning corners feel smooth and exciting, like the car is really “hugging” the road. If you’ve never driven a sporty EV before, it’s a fun surprise!
2025 Mustang Mach-E Rally Second Row
Here’s the thing: it’s not huge, but it’s usable. The seats are flatter, which makes it easier for car seat installation. The legroom is also surprisingly better than you’d expect in something with Mustang in the name. Two car seats will fit fine, and while the middle seat is tight, it’s doable for short drives. There are no seat sliders, and no sunshades, which are just something to keep in mind if you're hauling littles.

Second Row LATCH includes: two lower anchors and three tether anchors
If you're planning to install a car seat in the back of the Mustang Mach-E, you're going to need one of the slimmest options out there. The back seat is definitely tight for larger or bulkier seats, especially if you need to fit more than one.
I rounded up my favorite narrow car seats that actually work in my post: Slimmest Car Seats For Family Vehicles.
Let’s Talk Trunk Space
The liftgate is powered, and while it’s not a giant trunk, it’s big enough for strollers, sports gear, or grocery runs. The Rally trim also comes with a rubber cargo tray, which is perfect if you’re hauling muddy cleats or doing any kind of light off-roading.
There’s also a frunk! It’s small, but still handy for snacks or gear, especially because it’s washable.
2025 Mustang Mach-E Rally Range
This is always the big question with EVs. The Rally trim has the biggest battery in the lineup, with up to 280 miles of range (less in cold weather, of course). And it supports:
Level 1 (regular outlet—slowest)
Level 2 (faster—good for home chargers)
Level 3 DC fast charging (quick top-ups on the go)
If you're driving 10–20 miles a day? Totally doable with a wall outlet. More than that, and you’ll want to upgrade your charging setup.
2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally Wrap-Up
The 2025 Mustang Mach-E Rally isn’t your traditional family SUV, but that’s kind of the point. It’s fun, it’s fast, it’s electric, and it turns heads everywhere you go. If you’re looking for something bold that still works for your daily drives and weekend errands, this is a really fun option.
But if you need more trunk space or more second-row room, there are probably better fits out there.
